With over twenty years of experience creating complex projects for distinguished institutions such as Parsons School of Design and Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, I have harnessed the power of typography, color theory, layout and information hierarchy to design and create content that moves intended audiences.
After graduating from North Carolina State University with an MA in Graphic Design, I started receiving recognition for excellence in design. My design work for Parsons was has been featured in Information Graphics and Visual Cues and The Best of Brochure Design (Rockport Publishers), and has received several awards from Print Regional Design Annual competition, Society of Illustrators, and CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education).
As an Art Director, I have gained a reputation for the calm energy I bring to teams when under pressure. My strong knowledge of process—and sense of intuition—have enabled me to anticipate stumbling blocks and proactively respond to them. My ability to stay positive and focused on solutions in the face of difficulty has enabled my team to successfully complete all projects within time and budget parameters.
In addition to my strong leadership skills, I credit my success with my unique ability to tap into the needs and opinions of multiple project stakeholders. It’s important to ask the right questions of clients and synthesize their thoughts into clearly-defined goals before launching a project. During the process, I make sure to keep communication open and incorporate client feedback. I am also known for delivering engaging and compelling design presentations.
A few highlights of my accomplishments include:
• I revitalized and enhanced the perceived value of Scholastic by launching an innovative branding system, contributing to a 66% growth in program participation and 50% boost in funding over five years.
• I also overhauled the production process at the Scholastic Awards, increasing process efficiency and reducing errors to obtain a 100% on-budget and on-time delivery rate.
• I built the brand identity for Flourish Baking Company from scratch, taking the business from a fledgling startup to a prosperous company over the course of three years.
